Northeast Animal Hospital saved my Macaw's life. I will be forever grateful for the excellent care my Military Macaw — Captain — received at Northeast Animal Hospital. My 35-year-old girl (I've had her since she was 7 months old) became egg bound. The situation was VERY serious. Only a few veterinarians will care for birds, and I was SO FORTUNATE that Dr. Kirby Sills at Northeast was able to help my bird. He drained the egg, then manipulated it out. Captain didn't even need surgery. She is her old, feisty self now thanks to Northeast Animal Hospital. I think they are the BEST.

Dr. Emery and her entire team are truly exceptional. Our family has trusted this clinic for the last 20 years with all of our pets, both cats and dogs, and we could not be more grateful for the care they’ve provided. Many of our pets in recent years have been elderly and faced serious health challenges, and Dr. Emery has walked alongside us through some very difficult decisions. She is calm, compassionate, and incredibly professional. What I appreciate most is her honesty. She always takes the time to explain every option and helps us make the best decision for our pets without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. Her entire team is wonderful, especially Amber, who consistently goes above and beyond. The staff is kind, personable, and you can genuinely tell that they love animals and treat them like their own. Another thing that speaks volumes about Dr. Emery is her integrity. If she ever feels that a specialist or another provider would be better suited for a situation, she is upfront about it and helps guide you to the right place. That level of honesty and care is rare. This clinic has supported our family through both joyful moments and some very heartbreaking ones, and we will always be thankful for the compassion and dedication they have shown to our pets. I truly cannot recommend Dr. Emery and her team highly enough.

I took my bird there for a short weekend boarding stay. I had spoken with the avian vet and Amber extensively; even taking Houdini in to interact with them before he was left in their care. I left him on a Saturday, with plenty of food and his favorite chew toys... having already provided the office with an appropriate sized cage (which was to have been left in a quiet room where he would be away from other animals and people in general). I let them know all of his personality quirks, and also how to settle him if he became anxious since he's only been left in one persons care in the 16 years that I have had him. They assured me that he would be alright, but I did leave my number just in case there were any problems. On Monday morning, all I could hear was his screeching when I pulled up. Instead of the quiet room where he was to have been boarded, he was out in the reception area showing extreme signs of stress due to the animals and number of people around. I was basically chastised by the vet in attendance (although old enough to be her mother) because my cockatoo appeared stressed. But, no mention was made of the fact that he was stressed because he was being kept in an area that he should not have been in... an area known to have a free roaming cat. I was further advised that he would not be able to board there because of stress to other animals, when there was no care given to the stress that he was caused. This clinic advertises that they will follow special care needs of your pets, yet they totally disregarded mine. I was treated as if I had failed my bird, when my only failure was leaving him in the care of a vet's office that failed him. This was not a failure of the bird or the owner, but failure of this establishment to provide the care that was not only promised, but expected. I assumed that this would also be his normal vet, but at this point, I wouldn't trust them with my pet rock! My bird was traumatized!
